Week 1 Challenge
“Fran”
Goal:
It has become tradition for us to use certain benchmarks to measure success and improvement, those of you who have come through foundations recently can remember completing a “half Cindy” on Day 1 and Day 8. In the mid winter Paleo Challenge we found ourselves doing “Helen”. So in keeping with tradition our Summer Paleo Challenge will use “Fran” as our benchmark. Good Luck!

Week 2 Challenge
“Most Veggies Consumed”
Goal:
Eat your Veggies!
Purpose:
Without the grains in your diet you may find yourself lacking in carbohydrate department . Carbohydrates are essential to the bodies energy production. A lack of carbohydrates can lead to a lack of mental clarity and a feeling of exhaustion. Eat your carbs but eat the right ones! Oh and remember 1/2 a slice of toast is equivalent to an entire head of lettuce, so if you think your eating enough veggies, think again.
Scores
5) Nick – 173 cups
6) Paul – 130 cups

Week 3 Challenge
“Push Jerk 3×3″ & “Least Cheats”
Goal:
The goal of this weeks challenge is to limit the amount of “cheats” you are consuming. A cheat includes eating anything that is not Paleo (ex. grains, dairy, alcohol, processed foods). For simplicity of scoring we have decided that you can accumulate 6 cheats a day. If you cheat by eating a bagel for breakfast that compromised the entire meal and you would count that as a cheat. Conversely if you decided to pig out and have a happy meal and soda for lunch that would still count as 1 cheat. Keep track of your cheats and send them to your coaches. The second half of the challenge will require you to hit your 3×3 PR on the push jerk on Friday, July 1st 2011 and submit your score to your coach.
Purpose:
Going strict Paleo can be difficult. In doing so we often find that our body enters a detoxification phase and we find ourselves tired and groggy from the lack of carbohydrates. It is important during the first two weeks to establish a healthy diet where you are intaking adequate amounts of carbohydrates from the proper sources (ie. fruits and veggies), it is also important to eat often as we find that these simple carbohydrates break down quickly leaving us tired and in need of more fuel.
So after suffering through the first two weeks why on earth would you start putting those grains and dairy products back in! It will only prolong the harsh detoxification phase.

Week 4 Challenge
“Log The Most Sleep” & “Best Attendance”
Goal:
1. Log the most hours of sleep
-Tuesday Evening 7/5 (last night) -> Monday Evening 7/11 (wake up Tuesday and submit final score)
2. Log the best attendance
- Attendance will be calculated off the computer at the front desk. So make sure you log in every evening.
- Multiple WODs a day will count.
Purpose:
The body repairs and strengthens itself in the time between workouts, and continuous training can actually weaken the strongest athletes. However, consistently training is the key to success and improvement. Can you find the proper balance between the two?

Week 5 Challenge
“Paleo Cook-0ff” & “FitDay.com Proportions Log”
“Paleo Cook-off“

Summer 2011 Paleo Cook-off
Goal:
Paleo Cook-off
The cookoff will be held this Friday at 7 PM. Each team is expected to bring 1 food item, preferably enough for everyone to sample. You may choose to bring an appetizer, meal or dessert. We hope that each team will work together to decide on what they want to bring and pitch in to prepare that meal.
Purpose:
Eating Paleo requires you to constantly prepare meals using fresh fruits, veggies and meats. It is our hopes that the last few weeks have given you a new found appreciation for cooking and preparing healthy and hearty meals. We scoured the web to bring you ideas for recipes in hopes of stimulating your cooking experience. Paleo can easily become a chore if you let it. Conversely, it can be incredibly fun and rewarding if you try to find the joy in preparing new meals and experimenting with new recipes.

“FitDay.com Proportions Log”
Goal:
1) Using Fitday.com log your daily meals.
1 Point for every daily food log that is printed and submitted.
1 additional point for every daily food log that fits the nutritional proportions of 40/30/30 % (carbs/protein/fat)
Purpose:
Crossfitting isn’t just about attending as many classes a week as possible or adequately resting each night. In order to be successful you must quantify your training by logging yours times, scores and weights through the use of a journal. However it doesn’t end there, it is equally important to quantify your diet. Know what you are eating and how much of it you are eating. Those of you who are struggling to lose weight or gain weight can stand to greatly benefit from viewing your daily caloric intake and your nutritional breakdown. Do you find yourself physically drained by your new Paleo diet? A visual breakdown of your dietary intake may reveal that your carbohydrate intake is below the recommended 40% which could explain why you aren’t properly fueled.
